about

Our farm, Waimarie Station, is located 10km west of Geraldine, which is in the middle of the South Island, New Zealand.

Waimarie is a Māori word that translates; to be lucky, fortunate. These adjectives beautifully capture how we feel - immensely grateful and fortunate to call this whenua (land) our home. From the beautiful Waihi river which boundaries the farm, to the high country tussock covered hills, this land is special. So special that we wanted to share it with you.
From walking through native bush and visiting pristine waterfalls, to ending the day under the stars in the luxury of The Cabin, you’ll experience a perfect balance of relaxation and adventure.

Waimarie Station is a 1,800ha working farm, nestled under the Four Peak range just outside of Woodbury. Matt’s grandparents bought the property, a mix of high country and flat country, in 1972 and farmed Hereford cattle and half bred ewes. We continue to farm both these stock classes, and have introduced a deer herd to compliment the farming system and class of land.

There is over 450ha of native bush on the farm, with gullies of native trees including totara, rimu and manuka, creating a thriving ecosystem full with native birdlife.
You’ll get the chance to spot kereru, tui, fantails as well as wild deer, tahr, and pigs.

the family

We are Matt & Izzy, parents to Will, Posie and Hazel, and owners and custodians of Waimarie Station.
We both come from farming families - families that have farmed for generations and generations. It’s in our blood, the drive to work the land and leave it better than it was before, but also the desire to diversify and explore other avenues outside the traditional livestock farming structure.

At Waimarie we wish to offer our guests an unforgettable and enriching experience, whilst continuing to grow and protect the land for future generations to come.
